This week I attended Music Ally’s excellent Connected event here in London, where I was also asked to do a presentation: “Understanding the Music Fan in 2025”.

After delivering the presentation the response was so overwhelming that, after a chat with the team at Music Ally, they agreed to deliver a video of it that we could post onto YouTube for anyone to share. I really owe them a big thank you on this, as I know that Patrick and the team had to hustle to turn this around so quickly. That is hugely appreciated! 🙏🏻

🎶 Listening to “Nan Slapper” by Bou & B Live. I cannot remember the last time a song put such a massive smile on my face. With lyrics like “slap your nan in the face with ten tons of bass” I was already grinning, but when the bassline dropped, I was both laughing and LOVING it. It is the weirdest bass sound I’ve ever heard; almost like something has malfunctioned on the track. And you know what? It totally works. The song is a year old but this should be up there with Baddadan IMO. Genius.

📺 Watching “Heil Tesla” on YouTube. Generally I try to keep politics out of Network Notes, but I really appreciated this latest clip from Led By Donkeys which really just shines a light on the danger Elon Musk presents, and how that is largely funded by Tesla. It’s a simple but highly effective clip.

Notes in dispatches:

• Normal service on Network Notes will resume soon - i.e. the full dispatch with news roundups etc. Honestly the issue here is just time: we have so much going on at MU right now that juggling running the company with finding time to compile all the news etc is proving extremely hard. For now though, I’d sooner send out these slightly reduced instalments of NN and at least get something to you all.
